Nominations and Elections
Elections: It's that time of year again! LSU Houston will be holding our 2018 Board of Director Elections on Monday, November 6th promptly at 7:15pm. All active and PAID LSU Houston members must be physically present to cast a ballot for 2018's Board of Directors. ALL positions elected at this meeting will become effective January 1, 2018.
Nominations: If you are interested in running for a Board of Directors position, please review the slate below as well as the position's description. You must be an active and PAID member to be nominated for a position. Please ensure you have ample time to commit to monthly meetings and volunteering as our monthly meetings are the first Monday of each month. Even if you don't want to be on the board of directors, we would love to have you as a volunteer so please join us!

LSU Houston 2018 Board of Directors Slate
Positions are open to everyone to apply
The President shall supervise and control the affairs of LSUAA Houston.
The President shall perform all duties incident to such office and such other duties as may be provided in these bylaws or as may be prescribed from time to time by the Board. The President shall preside at all Board meetings and at all meetings of the membership.
The President may serve as an ex-officio member of all committees, unless otherwise provided by the Board orthese bylaws.
The President shall,with the advice of the Directors and in accordance with the requirements of these bylaws, set the agenda for each meeting of the Board.
The President shall maintain contact with the LSU Alumni Association main chapter in Baton Rouge.
The President shall serve as Immediate Past President in the year immediately following his or her term as President.
The President must have served as a former member of the LSU Houston Board.
The Vice President shall perform all duties the President delegates to his or her.
Upon the President's death, resignation, disability, or upon his or her absence or refusal to act, the Vice President also shall perform the President's duties unless the Board has designated another person as President. The Vice President shall perform the President's duties as long as the President's absence or disability continues.
The Treasurer shall have charge and custody of all LSUAA Houston funds and financial records, including bank accounts, cash box and PayPal accounts, shall oversee and supervise the financial business of LSUAA Houston, shall render reports and accountings to the Board on a monthly basis, or as required by the Directors, and shall perform all duties incident to the office of Treasurer and such other duties as may be required by law, by these bylaws, or which may be assigned from time to time by the Board. The Treasurer shall perform his or her duties under the general financial oversight of the Immediate Past President.
The Treasurer shall compile an annual report covering the year's finances for presentation to the Board at the December Board meeting. They shall also prepare an annual budget for the current year for presentation to the Board at the February Board meeting.
The Treasurer shall be responsible for the timely filing of LSUAA Houston's annual tax return, recommending accountants to be hired by the Board.
The Treasurer shall make all financial records, books, and annual reports available at the request of any Director for inspection and copying.
The Treasurer or another Board-authorized signatory may sign checks in amounts up to $500 on behalf of LSUAA Houston. For checks in an amount over $500, both the Treasurer and another Board-authorized signatory must sign, unless said expenditure has been approved in the yearly budget.
The Secretary shall perform all duties incident to the office of Secretary and such other duties as may be required by law or by these bylaws.
The Secretary shall facilitate Board meetings and shall be responsible for taking and maintaining accurate minutes of Board meetings and membership meetings, including a record of all votes cast in elections and other votes.
The Secretary shall be the custodian of all of LSUAA Houston's non-financial documents and property and act as a historian for LSUAA Houston.
The Membership Director shall maintain the membership database; receive and process membership applications; receive dues and forward same to the Treasurer; field questions from new and existing members; develop and execute the LSUAA Houston membership plan; contact potential members; initiate membership drives, and enhance and publicize membership benefits. The Membership Director will chair the Membership Committee and will assist with check-in at meetings and other LSUAA Houston events.
The Social Director shall be responsible for booking monthly happy hours, parties, and any other related events as approved by the Board, including coordinating all items needed at each event (e.g. supplies, flyers, door prizes), sign-up sheet for check in table, equipment needed at the venue (e.g. music, communication system) and evites as needed. The Social Director is also responsible for event promotions in LSUAA Houston communications.
Golf Tournament Director
The Golf Tournament Director shall be responsible for all planning on the Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser, including site selection, vendor selections, operational planning, and sponsorships. The Golf Tournament Director shall assign and oversee golf tournament related tasks to other Board members to distribute the workload. The Golf Tournament Director is also responsible for coordinating with the Board to ensure adequate giveaways and LSUAA Houston sales items and is responsible for preparing event promotion content for email blasts and newsletters. The Golf Tournament Director is to be held to the yearly approved budget for the Annual Golf Tournament.
Sporting Clay Tournament Director
The Sporting Clay Tournament Director shall be responsible for all planning on the Annual Sporting Clay Tournament Fundraiser, including site selection, vendor selections, operational planning, and sponsorships. The Sporting Clay Tournament Director shall assign and oversee golf tournament related tasks to other Board members to distribute the workload. The Sporting Clay Tournament Director is also responsible for coordinating with the Board to ensure adequate giveaways and LSUAA Houston sales items and is responsible for preparing event promotion content for email blasts and newsletters. The Sporting Clay Tournament Director is to be held to the yearly approved budget for the Annual Sporting Clay Tournament.
Crawfish Boil Director
The Crawfish Boil Director shall be responsible for all planning of the Annual Crawfish Boil Fundraiser, including site selection, vendor selection, operational planning, coordinating with the Sponsorship Chair to ensure all sponsor benefits are delivered, and coordinating the silent and live auctions. The Crawfish Boil Director shall assign and oversee crawfish boil related tasks to other Board members to distribute the workload. The Crawfish Boil Director is also responsible for coordinating with the Board to ensure adequate giveaways and LSUAA Houston sales items and is responsible for preparing event promotion content for email blasts and newsletters. The Crawfish Boil Director shall be held to the yearly approved budget
CFB Auction Manager
Duties: Coordinate the silent and live auction for the crawfish boil, including collection of items, preparation of bid sheets and item displays and set up at the event. This position is responsible for collection from winning bidders and distribution of items following the event.
CFB Sponsorship Director
The Sponsorship Director shall develop sponsor level packages for LSUAA events and work with the Board to ensure sponsorship benefits are fulfilled and sponsorship funds are collected. The Sponsorship Director is responsible for collecting and maintaining a database of sponsor information and generating sponsor thank you notes at the conclusion of sponsor events.
The Communications Director shall be responsible for outreach to LSUAA Houston members and prospective members by facilitating internal and external communications. The Communications Director shall maintain and enhance the LSUAA Houston website and other communications including the LSUAA Houston email account, email blasts, Evites, social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn) through coordination with the managers of such media.
The Communications Director is also responsible for working with coordinators of LSUAA Houston events to establish and maintain a communications schedule for specific events. The Communications Director shall develop and implement strategies for newsletter communications, both in print and electronic form.
The Communications Director shall oversee the collection of articles and production of newsletters and coordinate with vendors to print and/or mail the publications.
The Communications Director shall manage article deadlines, production and printing to ensure timely distribution of the newsletter. Plan, design, develop and deploy social media as a communication device; Representative must have basic website skills.
Communications: Website Manager
Manage and maintain website, develop new online member benefits, work across all committees to represent.
Communications: Email Manager
Plan, design, develop and deploy email blasts; manage lsuhouston.com emails. Representative must have basic web skills.
The Academic Director shall be the liaison between Louisiana State University and the LSUAA Houston for all recruiting issues.
The Academic Director shall seek support from the LSUAA Houston membership when volunteers are needed for area recruiting programs and other events.
The Academic Director is responsible for communications content for updating the LSUAA Houston membership on academic recruiting related news from LSU and for contacting the LSU Alumni Association and LSU Foundations for supplies needed for LSUAA Houston events.
Geaux Lunch Chair
Actively manage and promote the "Geaux Lunch" program.
Directors at Large
Past board members must have served as Board of Director for the previous 3 fiscal years with good standing.
Help with projects throughout the year both big and small, short and long. Learn and back-fill for manager and chair positions, everyone is invited!
